When stress mounts, there are many great ways to alleviate it between getting close to one's partner, strenuous exercise, and gardening.

A person under stress or strain is in danger of poor health if it is left unchecked. Mental anguish can begin to affect a person physically if he does not find a proper outlet for it. Among many outlets, three great ones involve getting close with a partner, stretching and flexing muscles, and getting outside to work in the yard or garden.

Physical Touch is a Great Outlet

When it comes to the languages of love getting close to one's partner can mean a great deal, especially to those under stress.

While some are not as interested in making love during periods of tension, others (even those just mentioned) have found that there is a great release in being with their spouse.

In fact, a Dec 11, 2008 article from msnbc.com on the matter stated that connecting physically can be like "a balm for the body." Couples should find ways to get close and stay there.

Seek Out an Endorphin Rush

An endorphin rush occurs when a person reaches a point where he is in pain and the body releases endorphins into the spinal cord to block the release of further pain signals.

This can occur during a long run, tough workout, or even a session of acupuncture. During a run, it is sometimes referred to as a "runner's high."

There are several reasons working out relieves stress:

  1. Takes up time that would have been spent on the couch
  2. Sweating helps release waste from the body
  3. Stretching and flexing the muscles just feels good

While the above may seem elementary, they are true. Sitting at home doing nothing can leave one feeling unsatisfied. In addition to this, there are toxins sitting under the surface of one's skin that exercise will help purge through sweat and by speeding up digestion.

In addition to these, working out encourages the imbibing of more water that will further aid in losing weight and feeling great.

Gardening can Relieve Stress

Getting out in the warm weather to grow tomatoes or roses is simple enough even for those with a less-than-green thumb. They can also help a person feel better.

Gardening helps people by keeping them healthier through engaging in outdoor activities and bringing fresh fruits and vegetables into their diet. In addition to this, digging and planting can be fair exercise as well.

For those without a garden, there is also pruning, edging, and mowing. A crisp clean looking yard is nicer than one that is overgrown. It helps make one a good neighbor, and it's good to do for oneself.

Stress is a silent killer waiting to strike slowly and over many years. Without purging it from one's life, it can be torture. Looking great and feeling healthier with an active lifestyle is a surefire method of preventing a lifetime of stress-induced anxiety, worry, and sickness
